The business was started 21 years ago, originally from home by husband and wife team Nick Lunn and Gillie Scherr, later joined by Neil Bullock, our IT and Operations Director.
Virtual Receptionist and the other call centre services are run by an award winning team based in Devon in the South West of England.
Our team have experience working with both large corporate clients, as well as hundreds of SMEs and sole traders, all of whom look for a professional service, but with the same common business values. We believe that professionalism should always be delivered in a warm and friendly way.
We operate from purpose built offices that provides the hub for our contact centre, mailing house, fulfilment services and IT development team.
People deal with people and therefore when I choose to work with any business, especially those who I see as 'partners' who have a direct affect on my customers, I always like to get to know a little more about the people behind the business. If you want to find out about the 'people' behind teleBIZZ, here are a few personal snippets about me and my family.
Our business is far more than a business but a way of life. Both children have been brought up in an entrepreneurial environment and have both been involved in our business from when they were very young. Both have a great work ethic and started 'helping' out in our mailing house from a young age.
Jodie, now 25 (our website cover girl), has worked in the call centre for many years. After graduating from Cardiff University with an English Degree, she set off round the world for an exciting gap year and now works for a large company in Bristol in a management role with a large call centre at the heart of the business. Whilst I would love our children to join the family business, I am happy that they are both are so very independent and determined to build their own successful careers.
Our son Jake (17) has been an entrepreneur since the age of 8. His first business www.nautical-napkins.co.uk has made him a bit of a celebrity. The Money Programme did a piece on him about young entrepreneurs, Matthew Bannister from Radio 4 interviewed him, he was on BBC Breakfast as well as local TV and in January 09, he was featured on Channel 5 News as an 'Inspirational teenager'. In the summer of 2008 he was on stage with Duncan Banatyne in front of 500 delegates at an Entrepreneur Summit discussing his business. Having said all of that, he is a typical teenager with a love of sport - the more extreme the better - he loves surfing, skiing, ski-touring, boarding (wake, snow and skate), competitive kayaking, as well as sailing. His latest entrepreneurial success involves selling a 'home-work' Ap, to schools, which was developed by one of this friends. He is planning to do an engineering degree and travel the world from beach to beach!
Nick and I work well as a team along with Neil, our other director (who is more like part of the family). Nick built our house, while Neil and I continued to build the business. Neil brings the brains, as well as a great sense of humour to the business. Neil and his team have built all of our systems.
Nick and I have benefited in so many ways since Neil joined the team a few years ago. Before that we actually took separate holidays. Now we can both go on holiday together. Our passions are scuba diving (I especially love diving with sharks - here is one of my photos), sailing and skiing. It has taken us many years to have the business at a point that we can now go away easily.
Systemisation, a great team - and working with Neil allow us to be able to go away a little more often these days.
I understand exactly what it is like to run a business and can empathise with the challenges faced by businesses of all sizes. My aim is to offer the type of service that I want for my own business.
I am a bit of a perfectionist in terms of quality and we put a strong emphasis on quality control processes and call monitoring. Having said that, I believe that the best way to achieve a really great service is to have a team of very happy motivated staff.
We all spend so much time working, that being happy at work is incredibly important. A happy positive team will not only benefit them but also your customers, who will receive a cheerful professional service. We give lots of rewards every month, week and quarter - saying thank you in lots of ways goes a long way. We have a brilliant team of really lovely people.
If you haven't made up your mind about whether to join us, just pick up the phone and chat to one of my team. Our outbound team can talk you about helping you with customer retention or how we can help develop your sales from your non converted prospects.
If you need your phone answering professionally when you are not able to take the calls yourselves, you can always take advantage of our free trial and give our service a try - this way you can find out for yourself and not just take my word for it....
We look forward to helping you with your phone answering or other professional outsource requirements.
Kind regards
Gillie Scherr

"The service provided by the Virtual Receptionist team is excellent. Their staff genuinely act as a member of my own company and are always extremely professional. I doubt there is a better alternative for small companies looking to present a professional and seamless image to their customers. Excellent in every respect."
